The homework in this course takes the form of a weekly conversation with an AI chatbot about the material covered that week. The chatbot plays an apprentice eager to learn about a given data science topic, and your task is to help it understand, in a fluid back-and-forth conversation. The chat ends once you have explained the topic well enough that it “clicks” for the apprentice.
The aim is to give you a meaningful way of engaging with the course material on a regular basis. The weekly quizzes mentioned in Lecture 1 are therefore no longer part of the course and have been dropped.
Schedule
Homework is released every Friday evening and is due one week later.
The first homework is released on Friday 11 September 2026. It does not cover a technical topic, since the technical material has not started yet. Please complete it anyway: it lets you get used to the format and check that you can log into the system.
Grading
Completing the chat successfully earns you full marks for that week. Taken together, the weekly homework is worth 10% of the course grade (after the optional shifting and scaling described in Lecture 1).
